We had a Bristan thermostatic mixer bar shower for 11 years in our previous house, and it was trouble-free for 10 years. When we had a problem, it was easy to speak to someone from Bristan (a UK-based company), and they quickly identified the issue and helped us fix it. So, when we needed a mixer bar shower in our new house, I didn’t look at any other brand. I went straight for a Bristan one. We are delighted with it - it looks great and works superbly. QS supplies were highly competitive in price, and service/speed of delivery was excellent.
After looking and comparing thermostatic showers I chose this Bristan due to it's build quality ease of fit and other reviews. The shower performs well as expected and looks the part.I found the best price from QS & buying from QSsupplies fantastic as I ordered it at 1 pm and it was delivered by 12 noon the next day.
The shower was easy to plumb in and works very well. Pressure is fine working off mains pressure via combi boiler. The build quality is above average with easy to use controls. Have been using it almost every day for the last six months and still looks like new with only a wipe over with a micro fibre cloth.
Bought this as a replacement for a similar unit (not Bristan), and it fitted the bill perfectly. The quality is excellent, and the service from QS first class - the price was the best I could find, and the unit was delivered in just a couple of days with excellent tracking throughout.
Seamless purchase, excellent communication couldn’t have been any easier, and for a product that was already known for style and quality, anyone wanting bathroom supplies should use this company, easy line delivery and communication.
I purchased 2 Bristan carre thermostatic mixer carte. Both were delivered in the time stated and in excellent condition. The price could not be matched anywhere in Ireland or the UK
Terrific style and performance matched with great value. Can't fault QS Supplies for efficient ordering and good advice matched with very quick delivery. Well done!
I am very impressed by this company. Item was the best price i could fin by some margin. delivery was superb and unexpectedly fast Thanks.
Affectionately called the rainmaker in this house. Really like the versatility of having 2 shower heads. Nicely distributed water flow.
I always buy Bristan and this is a great shower. I could not find a better price online and am happy with the installation. Thanks!

Ian Asked :Why does the supply hot water temperature have to be at least 10 deg above the set output temperature, as stated in the instructions?
The hot water must be at least 60 degrees because the hot water needs to mix with the cold water supply within the shower valve. If the hot water inlet is any less than 60 degrees, you may find that the water coming out of the shower will not get as hot as you would like. If the hot water supply is less than 60 degrees, you will feel more cold water than warm water. To get a temperature around the factory pre-set at 42 degrees, the hot water supply needs to be set at 60-65 degrees. We hope this helps!
CAroline Asked :I have a tiled wall with two plumbing pipes sticking out where the valves are due to fit. Does this fit flush to the wall connecting with the protruding pipes, or will it need to be embedded some way into the wall when installed?
The bar valve inlets attach to wall mounts, which sit over the inlet pipework.
Tony Asked :Bristan says there is a flow control tied into the on/off knob. As the RH knob is for temperature, how do you divert from one shower head to the other?
To change the function between the handset and the fixed head shower, the flow handle is rotated forward or backwards.
Michael Asked :Is the distance from the inlets to the upper fixing on the riser bar adjustable? I am replacing an existing unit, and the upper fixing is 800mm from the inlets.
The rigid riser is telescopic and adjustable between 1000-1200mm.
guy Asked :Can the rigid riser rail be shortened?
The riser rail on the Carre shower can be cut down at the end that attaches to the shower bar itself. As long as this is a clean-cut, then as this is a push-fit connection, then the riser rail will still work.
Tom Asked :I have a very low-pressure system. I have approximately 0.2 bar pressure. Will this product work for me?
Answered By Deborah This shower was purchased for a property I rent out, so I have no personal knowledge of how it functions. However, I remember it being very stylish and have received no bad feedback from my tenants and know of no issues with regard to its reliability. Sorry, I am unable to assist further.
Answered By Anthony If it's 2 bar, yes, but if 0.2 bar, no shower would work well & would need a pump.
Answered By tim I would not recommend this shower on a low-pressure system unless you have a pump on the system
Regards
Tim
Answered By Ray The spec says 0.5 bar minimum. (about 16-foot head), 0.2 is about 6 feet, so the flow would be more like a dribble. You need a booster pump or a low-pressure mixer valve; they do not come with a diverter switch valve; but appear to go down to 0.1 bar.
Answered By Jon Hi, This valve will not work for you if your pressure is approx 0.2 bar. The valve needs a minimum of 0.5 bar to operate, there is a lot of internal resistance and the height of the shower head in relation to the base of your Cold water storage cistern might be only about 300mm, so it is not tremendous pressure. The cheapest solution to your problem is to fit a shower pump; I hope this helps.
Answered By Russel My water pressure is ok but not fantastic. With hot water fed by a combo boiler, the shower is fine to use, with no noticeable drop in pressure at the shower compared to the taps. I think the volume of water at the head is more important
Answered By Avril This product is only suitable for a high-pressure system or a pumped system; for that, you would need a hot water cylinder & a cold water tank in the loft with an independent feed to the pump.
