This was a replacement for an identical fan installed about 11 years ago. The motor in the original seized, necessitating replacement. (The humidity sensor had packed up some years before.) I like the fact that it is ultra-quiet. Also, the fan will start automatically when steam builds up to a predetermined level. Adjusting the duration of the run and the sensitivity of the humidity sensor demands patience, but it's worth the effort.
We were hoping for a fan that would be unobtrusive both in noise and looks, this ticks both those boxes and the fact that there is a humidity sensor is great, meaning it only switches on when needed and so is not on constantly. Very impressed with just how quiet this is and really worth the slightly more expensive price tag for that benefit.
It's a good-quality extractor fan. It is very discreet, and powerful but almost silent - I don't notice it unless I'm listening for it. It serves our long straight duct very well. Arrived promptly. I can't fault it.

Jorge Asked :What is the size of the outlet at the back?
The cutout size (for wall or ceiling) for the HIB Hush fan is 10cm.
Kevin Asked :Does the timer have to be wired to the light or kick in after the humidity in the room drops below a certain level, i.e. is the fan completely self-contained and does it need an electrician to install it?
You will need an electrician to fit the fan. The fan will start once switched on from the main lights. Once switched off, the fan will continue for the time set on the Timer. Once the timer time has been reached, the humidity sensor will carry on until the set percentage has been reached and if not reached by the timer function. The humidity sensor may override the time if not switched off if the humidity becomes high in the bathroom. We recommend the timer be set to minimum and humidity to 90%.
Alistair Asked :What is the diameter of the ducting for this vent?
The diameter of the ducting for the vent is 10cm.
Anisa Asked :Hi there, Please can you advise whether this can be ceiling mounted?
Yes, it can also be installed as ceiling mounted.
Riaz Asked :Hi, I was told by my builder I needed IP rated 50 and over; I wasn't sure what this meant and if this model fits those criteria.
All HIB fans are IPX4-rated. Only HIB SELV fans are suitable for zones 1.
K Asked :My fan keeps running continuously; how can I place it on a timer or make it start and stop via an electrical power supply?
First, try setting the humidity to a maximum (90%) and the timer to a minimum (2mins) when making the fan's changes need to be isolated for the PCB to recognise the changes. Once you have done this, the fan stops after 2mins once turned off at the source; We would then suggest changing the timer to a more suitable amount of run-on time.
