Toughened Safety Glass

Toughened glass, tempered or safety glass as it is rightly called, is five times harder than regular glass of the same size and thickness, which makes it so that it won’t break as easily. It also shatters with scattering as it tends to break into tiny, blunt pieces without harming anyone nearby. Known to have greater thermal strength, this durable material with double glazing has almost twice the soundproofing abilities and provides excellent heat insulation.

This is a thick, quality glass screen. The only issue is it is so heavy that it sags over and the flexible bottom strip folds over and gets jammed underneath meaning the screen won't move easily. Despite trying to adjust the screen by undoing the bolts with an Allen key the flexible strip will no longer fit underneath and we now have to use it without this strip.

We have a window sill which will be behind the shower screen when it is opened at 90 degrees to the bath. For this reason, there needs to be approximately 300mm clearance from the wall to the pivot point of the screen, allowing for the depth of the window sill and so that screen won't hit the point of the sill. Is this achievable with this screen or do I need one with a bigger fixed panel? Many thanks.
